Instructor
David Pettett 3 Dan

David started his martial arts training in 1970 at the Howick Academy of Judo under the watchful eye of Sensei Ivan Willis (5th Dan) with the New Zealand Judo Federation. He competed in many tournaments ranging from local through to International competitions. He received his 1st Dan black belt in 1984.  After leaving New Zealand bound for Australia David took up a short role teaching judo at the Gold Coast Police Citizens Youth Club. While living on the Gold Coast David learnt Tai Chi Chuang and Kenkokan karate. David moved to Melbourne in 1999 and soon after continued to study karate and kick boxing at Allstars Self Defence Centre. Today David enjoys judo at our judo club and is involved in passing his knowledge onto the younger generation. David has also found a new passion in refereeing and is keen to learn and progress in the future with the help of Sensei Malcolm Slade (7th Dan) and Sensei John Dronryp (7th Dan).
